Living In Lagos
There are some very unusual rental practices in Lagos. To get a rental apartment, you will be expected to pay two years rent upfront in addition to legal and arrangement fees which amount to 20% of the two year fees. If it is not a serviced apartment, you will be expected to buy your own power generator, air conditioners and all 'white' goods.
If you rent a house in Lagos, be prepared to install your own water treatment plant and carry out all internal repairs yourself.
Lagos can be an expensive place to live, so keep an eye on those expenses that could spiral out of control especially: water supply, diesel, and car repairs (especially tyre replacements because of bad roads).
